Introduction

Health Care Associated Infections (HCAIs) are defined as infections occurring in a healthcare setting that were not present prior to a patient entering that care setting. In the years 2016/17 the pre-pandemic levels across all NHS Hospitals in England were estimated to be around 834,000 Infections that were acquired during the patients stay. 

This number equates to a staggering 28,500 Deaths among the 13.8 million adult patients in hospitalIn addition, 13900 healthcare professionals were also infected among its 810,000 front-line HCP’s.

These Infections caused an estimated 5.6 million occupied hospital bed days and 62 500 days of absenteeism among front-line HCPs. The overall cost to the NHS was a whopping £2.7 Billion.

Orbel® contains 60ml or 2fl oz of 72% Ethyl Alcohol and 1% Glycerine for moisturising your hands. Also contained is a cooling gel with a pleasant fragrance for extra freshness.

Orbel® is simple to use. Swipe your hands down the face whilst applying a little pressure. This compresses the soft reservoir at the back and delivers gel as the rollerballs rotate.

With practice, you should be able to get enough gel, on one hand, to sanitise it in both hands for about 15 seconds. Ensure you sanitise over the palm’s and the backs of the hands between the fingers and the fingertips.

Your hands should feel wetted for about 15 seconds. Once you’ve empty Orbel®, Simply put it in a recycling bin. All the components of all Orbel® are 100% recyclable. a point worth noting is that because you’ll be dispensing sanitiser through the roller balls under pressure it’s almost impossible for any contamination to get inside Orbel®

The EN 1500 is a European Standard test method that evaluates the efficacy of a hygienic handrub. A handrub is defined as a treatment that involves rubbing the hands without the addition of water.

BS EN 1276 certification means that a cleaning product is antibacterial. It is a European standard used in the hospitality industry and food preparation environments.

 

Orbel® will give approximately 60 hand washes as per WHO 5 moment hand washing protocols however as Orbel®  is to support and increase compliance its not used as a completely primary method.

Orbel® also is dependant on size of hand and how hard and often you use it. 

Anything from a week to 2 or more, Orbel®  rollerball patented system applies the gel directly to the surface of the hand so no waste like other hand sanitisers.
